The Maasai Mara is a year-round destination, but certain months offer dramatically different experiences.
Great Migration Season (July - October)
This is the most famous time to visit. Over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras cross from the Serengeti into the Mara, followed by predators. It is spectacular but busy.
Calving Season (January - February)
In the southern Serengeti, thousands of calves are born, attracting predators. The Mara itself is quieter and offers excellent resident game viewing.
Green Season (November - May)
The landscape is lush and green, birdlife is spectacular, and prices are lower. Some roads may be muddy, but the experience is intimate and beautiful.
